This image was shot on the walk up to the summit of Mount Snowdon. Starting from Pen y Pass at around 5am, the first hour was conflicting - I wanted to make it to the top before the crowds but at the same time, I couldn’t stop myself from admiring the rising sun behind me.
I had recently bought a Sigma 100mm-400mm, my first ‘long’ lens. I should have bought one sooner as I was really enjoying the opportunity to pick out smaller scenes amongst such a wide landscape. As I was snapping away, A hot-air balloon appeared from the horizon creating a perfect point of interest. I had a chance to frame a few shots before continuing the ascent. I love the colours in this shot and there’s not been much, if any, editing involved, it really was that nice!
